*Students will be taking various Florida state standardized tests between March 29th and May 6thIt is imperative that all students arrive at school before 7:45 a.m. to minimize interruptions. Students will be testing in all areas of the school.  Please do your best not to schedule medical appointments in the morning during this time period in order to avoid students coming and going during testing.

*Although we cannot plan to have volunteers from 8:00 a.m. until noon during the testing window (March 29th-May 6th), there are many things that can be done after lunch, during after school hours or weekends. Contact your children’s teachers if you are looking for hours.  The mulch for the Morning Mile track should be here late next week.  If you would like to help in the gardens, contact Mary Ann Harris at maha45is@bellsouth.net.

*Thank you to everyone who joined us for the February Parent Night, Success In School. Miss Concepcion’s presentation was extremely informative and there was extensive parent participation. We hope you have been able to try some strategies at home. If you have not returned your survey, please do so. We value your feedback and use it to improve and plan future Parent Nights. An outline was sent home with valuable resources for those who did not attend. Let us know if you did not receive one.

*It is that time of year when the children begin to show signs of spring fever. Please keep up with routines and expectations at home. We still have over three months left of school and children need to continue to complete and turn in homework, study for tests and remember the golden rule, “Treat others as you want to be treated.” We are having some instances of hurt feelings lately.

*We are looking for a few people to join the HLA Strategic Planning committee.  This group is responsible for devising long term goals for the school.  Please contact board member Carolyn Lichty at clichty@hlacharter for more information.  This is your opportunity to help shape the future of HLA.

* We had an excellent turnout and the children really enjoyed running with their friends and teachers at the 5Points of Life 5K & Kids Marathon. Great job, kids!

*Our 100th Day project was a huge success!  HLA donated 434 pounds (334 meals) to the local food bank.  The students worked cooperatively to build (and sell) some incredible structures.

Always feel free to contact us in regards to your children’s education.  We are here for you!  J
