Welcome to Healthy Learning Academy
Healthy Learning Academy is a Charter School for Boys and Girls in Kindergarten through 2nd Grade. If you are looking for a public school that cares as much about your child's health and fitness as you do, look no further. The Healthy Learning Academy Charter School opened in August 2006, and serves boys and girls in grades K, 1, and 2 on the beautiful Girls Club campus at 2101 NW 39th Avenue. Healthy Learning Academy had a very successful follow-up to last year. Click here to read the test scores.
Healthy Learning Academy provides an opportunity for primary grade students to attend a small, intimate academy that focuses on core academics with an added emphasis on physical fitness and health education. The School’s goal is to instill students with an understanding, built on training and practice, of the mind/body connection and the importance of physical well-being and health to the whole person.
Healthy Learning Academy limits class sizes to just 18 students and the school size to only 54 students. This puts the School ahead of the class size reduction amendment. Alachua county has many educational opportunities for incoming third graders. Parents have the option of enrolling students in one of several fine Charter Schools, Magnet Programs, their own zoned Public Community Schools or one of several Private Schools. Parents are responsible for making these arrangements. We do recommend that if you are considering a Charter or Magnet Program that you make arrangements early as there may be a waiting list.
Healthy Learning Academy is located on a beautiful 5-acre campus that features a full sized gymnasium, sports fields, spacious classrooms, and up to the minute computer lab. All core curricula is state approved. In addition the School features daily lessons in music, art, health and physical education, featuring the exciting and innovative Get Up and Get Moving program. All teachers and aides are highly qualified under rigorous federal and state standards. Charter Schools are public schools so there is no tuition, no fees, no cost for books or anything else.
