Enrollment Information
Enrollment
Choosing an elementary school is a very important decision that requires considerable thought and research. Healthy Learning Academy has established a reputation for excellence and our program is in high demand.
-
Healthy Learning Academy is a school of choice. Enrollment is open to any elementary aged child in Alachua County and the surrounding area.
-
Under Florida law, a child must be 5 years old on or before September 1 to enter kindergarten that year. To enter first grade, a child must be 6 on or before September 1 and must have attended kindergarten.
-
Applications are accepted year round. Healthy Learning Academy enrolls new students via lottery dependant on open spots in each grade level. Student are eligible to enroll mid year upon completion of the enrollment process, provided there is an opening in the student’s grade level.
-
Since the number of new students applying for admission at the beginning of the academic year may exceed the positions available in a particular grade level, a random selection process (lottery) will be used to determine enrollment. Students who are not initially selected will be given the opportunity to be placed on a waiting list and notified if a position becomes available. Siblings of students currently in attendance receive enrollment priority status for all grade levels, if a position is available.
-
The lottery for kindergarten will be held in March. To participate in the lottery, prospective students must submit a completed application prior to March 1st or they will be added to the waiting list.
-
- Two documents showing proof of residence: This may be a rental or lease agreement, utility bill, deed, sales agreement or property tax bill.
- Birth Certificate or other proof of age

A form signed by the licensed health care provider that includes all of the components listed in Form 3040 is also acceptable.
-
Proof of required immunizations — The Florida Certification of Immunization Form 680 is required for entry into a Florida school. The form must be provided by a licensed Florida doctor, advanced practice registered nurse or a Florida county health department
