Welcome to the Healthy Learning Academy!

A Charter School for Boys and Girls in Kindergarten through 2nd Grade

If you are looking for a public school that cares as much about your child's health and fitness as you do, look no further. The Healthy Learning Academy Charter School opened in August 2006, and serves boys and girls in grades K, 1, and 2 on the beautiful Girls Club campus at 2101 NW 39th Avenue. Healthy Learning Academy had a very successful follow-up to last year. Click this link to read the test scores.

Healthy Learning Academy provides an opportunity for primary grade students to attend a small, intimate academy that focuses on core academics with an added emphasis on physical fitness and health education. The School’s goal is to instill students with an understanding, built on training and practice, of the mind/body connection and the importance of physical well-being and health to the whole person.

Healthy Learning Academy limits class sizes to just 18 students and the school size to only 54 students. This puts the School eight years ahead of the class size reduction amendment. Additionally, Healthy Learning Academy has worked out an agreement with The One Room School House, Gainesville's oldest charter school, to accept 2nd grade Healthy Learning Academy graduates into the third grade program at One Room. One Room graduates have an automatic entry into Hoggetowne Middle School, which has a strong physical fitness program. This system will provide students with the opportunity for fitness and health education at small, family oriented schools all the way to high school.

Healthy Learning Academy is located on a beautiful 5-acre campus that features a full sized gymnasium, sports fields, spacious classrooms, and up to the minute computer lab. All core curricula is state approved. In addition the School features daily lessons in music, art, health and physical education, featuring the exciting and innovative Get Up and Get Moving program. All teachers and aides are highly qualified under rigorous federal and state standards. Charter Schools are public schools so there is no tuition, no fees, no cost for books or anything else.
