Anni Egan

Principal

Dedication and enthusiasm have always been two of my most valuable attributes.  I always give 110% of myself, to which both present and former supervisors and parents will attest.  Administrators and parents appreciate that I set high standards for my students and have a talent for building students’ self-esteem to the point that they most often achieve the goals that we work together to set.  Students love my “high energy” style of teaching.  Parents also value my efforts to keep them updated of classroom activities and informed of their children’s progress.  Co-workers frequently ask to borrow the many unique activities I have developed for use in my classroom, and as a token of their respect, voted me the 2005-2006 Teacher of the Year at Bronson Elementary school.  In joining the Healthy Learning Academy, it has been a dream come true for me to be an integral part of a school community that realizes and emphasizes the importance healthy lifestyles play in student achievement!

Work History

Healthy Learning Academy
Gainesville, FL
  • 2006-present
  • 2007 – present  Principal/Educator
  • 2006 – present  Educator, first and second grade

As part of the inaugural team involved in the opening of Healthy Learning Academy, I feel that I have a major stake in the success in the school and its unique mission.  I have always incorporated health, fitness and nutrition into my classroom and so it was my great pleasure to become part of an entire school that shared my life passions of integrating health and fitness with education.

Before the start of the 2007 school year, I was offered the opportunity to take on the role of Principal in addition to my teaching duties.  Although I have never had intentions of becoming an administrator, I accepted the duties and, according to both parents and the Board of Directors, have performed these duties in an outstanding manner.  Under my guidance the school continues to grow and flourish, becoming well known in the community for its outstanding academic results, individualized attention to each student and our unique philosophy of providing excellence in education with a focus on lifelong health, nutrition, and fitness for the creative mind and vigorous body.  Although teaching all day and performing administrative duties after the students leave can make for a long work day, it is extremely rewarding to know I have been instrumental in the success of Healthy learning Academy.
